The Platform
About the Web App
Machwerk is a web application we built for WakeSys to digitize cable car maintenance. The live Machwerk Service App is a login-walled platform where teams select a site, complete structured checkups, and document equipment condition instead of relying on paper records.
Our work replaced manual record-keeping and fragmented coordination with automated ticket creation and resubscription, urgent task management, and role-based access so administrators can manage technicians. The result is a structured web platform for preventive maintenance — not a marketing site or a mobile app.

Challenges
Project Challenges
No standardized procedures: Maintenance work lacked a shared, consistent process, which made it difficult to run inspections the same way across sites and teams.
Manual documentation: Records were kept by hand, slowing data use and making it harder to keep an accurate history of inspections and repairs.
Weak preventive maintenance: Without structured checkups and follow-up, preventive work was inadequate and issues were more likely to surface as downtime.
Limited visibility and coordination: Teams did not have a clear shared view of tasks, ownership, and site status, which made coordination across technicians and administrators harder.
Little automation: The operation had not integrated automation or modern tooling, so ticket handling, follow-up, and record-keeping stayed manual.

We started by understanding how cable car maintenance was actually being done, including gaps in documentation, coordination, and preventive work.

Maintenance workflows were redesigned around a web application: site-based access, structured checkups, and clearer roles for administrators and technicians.

Ticket creation, resubscription, and urgent task handling were automated so follow-up no longer depended on informal, manual tracking.

Technicians choose a site, then sign in with email and password. The live Service App is authentication-gated rather than a public marketing website.
Role-based access
Administrators can manage technicians through role-based access, keeping maintenance work scoped to the right people and sites.
Automated tickets
The platform supports automated ticket creation and resubscription, plus urgent task management, so maintenance work is tracked through to follow-up.
Structured checkups
Checkup screens capture component condition with dated inspections and star ratings — for example Motor Tower items on a selected cable site.
Inspection photo documentation
Technicians can capture, retake, and attach inspection photos during a task, turning visual evidence into part of the maintenance record.
